Phlebotomy/EKG Training Program

Program Description

The Phlebotomy/EKG Technician training program will provide training skills as a Phlebotomy Technician as well as an Electrocardiography Technician. Combination of skills can be used to obtain employment in hospitals, physician offices and a number of health care settings. The program places emphasis on the safe practice of collecting adequate and correct blood specimens by capillary puncture or venipuncture on adults, children and neonates. The second part of the program includes the correct and accurate capture of EKG tracing and cardiac monitoring data. The program consists of classroom, simulated laboratory settings and practicum. Upon completion, the students will render compassionate patient care to all patients and will perform as an integral member of a health care team with competence and confidence. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy and EKG Technician Certification Examination.
Estimated hours of instructions: One Hundred (100) hours includes the practicum ( 10 EKG cases, 10 capillary punctures and 30 veni punctures) being performed at the school.
Our school is currently contacting hospitals and medical practices where those EKG cases and punctures could be done as part of an externship.
